JEFF KOONS AT VERSAILLES 2008 By Henning Høholt, text and photos. Versailles is one of our favorite places to visit when we are in Paris or Northern France. This is due to several reasons. One is the beautiful castle, which is an importent part of the frensh history as home for King Louis XI, XV and XVI and Marie Antoinette, who became a kind of a symbol for elegance, together with the court which surrounded her at Versailles. Second the parc behind the Versailles Castle including the smaller castles Grand Trianon and Petite Trianon, and of course not to forget Marie Antoinettes small Hameau, where she was playing that she was away on her own little farm. In the parc, close to the canale, there are several small restaurants and cafees, where it is pissible to enjoy a good meal or a cup of coffee or tea. These we do recommend. Last, but not least the splendid different exhibitions which yearly are being arranged in the Castle. Summer 2008 it was the famous american artist Jeff Koons. For the norwegians, we were, of course, pleased to enjoy the beautiful Michael Jackson with Bobo sculpture in porcelain, which was lent from the Astrup Fearnley collection in Oslo. We do hope that this photo seria will inspire our readers to visit Versailles and get the fantastic inspirations and impressions that we are enjoying every year. www.chateauversailles.fr Spring/ Summer 2009 Versailles will be hosting an exhibiton named: Court Pomp and Royal Ceremony Court Dress in Europe, 1650-1800 31 March to 28 June 2009, Palace of Versailles
